Nigel was the man behind the St David’s Partnership for more than 27 years, working with Robert to build a company that puts clients and their well-being at the heart of everything we do, and creating a supportive and welcoming environment for every member of the team.

A Welsh speaker with more than 40 years in financial services as a practicing IFA under his belt, Nigel was highly respected within the industry and sat on the Bank of England panel for South Wales for many years.

His interests in politics, current affairs and economics kept him at the top of his game throughout his working life, and his encyclopaedic knowledge and ability to recall information he had been told or had read were legendary amongst friends, colleagues, and clients. He was also known for his passion for mountain biking, with office dog Sherlock Holmes, and the pleasure he got from green-laning and from cars in general.

In 2017, Nigel brought his partner’s son, Trystan Rees, into the St David’s Partnership, oversaw his training to become a qualified IFA, and was mentoring him to become a Partner in the business.

Nigel loved his work, particularly meeting with clients, and didn’t ever plan to retire. Sadly, he never got a chance to revisit his plan as he died unexpectedly, whist still working but awaiting a kidney transplant, in May 2021.
